Benedict Cumberbatch Says Doctor Strange Sequel May Film This Month

Marvel Studios has yet to officially acknowledge that Sam Raimi is directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Doctor Strange himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, has indicated that the sequel may finally be ready to begin filming.

While speaking with WatchTime, Cumberbatch said “I’m in pre-production with the second Doctor Strange film, which is very exciting. We will start filming in late October or early November.”

Presumably Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong will also return as Mordo and Wong, respectively. Rachel McAdams will not reprise her role as Christine Palmer from the first film.

WandaVision and Loki will also tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Elizabeth Olsen confirmed to appear as Scarlet Witch in the sequel. However, it’s unclear if Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will be in the sequel as well.

Marvel hasn’t confirmed any additional cast members for this film yet. But if production really is only a few weeks away, then that news may be forthcoming.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
