Jurassic World 3 Adds Dichen Lachman To the Cast

Actress Dichen Lachman has become something of a sci-fi staple in recent years. And now, she’s adding a new project to her resume that should boost her profile even more. Deadline is reporting that Lachman has joined the cast of Jurassic World 3 in an undisclosed role.

Back in 2018, Lachman was a series regular on Netflix’s Altered Carbon, where she played Reileen Kawahara. She also previously recurred throughout Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s sophomore season as Jiaying, the long-lost mother of Chloe Bennet’s Daisy Johnson. More recently, Lachman has made several appearances on TNT’s Animal Kingdom.

Lachman isn’t the only new addition to the Jurassic World series. Over the last several months director and co-writer Colin Trevorrow has been fleshing out the new film’s supporting cast with the likes of Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise. Last week, it was confirmed that Omar Sy and Jake Johnson will be reprising their roles from the first Jurassic World as Barry and Lowery Cruthers, respectively. They’ll join Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong, Justice Smith, and Daniella Pineda. Of course, most fans are probably just excited to see original Jurassic Park trilogy stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum make their long-awaited return to the franchise.

Additionally, Trevorrow has been suggesting that the upcoming sequel will be less reliant on CGI. He also teased more animatronic dinosaurs with a new photo on Twitter.

Jurassic World 3 will start filming later this year. The movie will open in theaters on June 11, 2021.
