Crystal Skull Writer David Koepp Returns For Indiana Jones 5

Although Harrison Ford recently noted that the fifth Indiana Jones movie would begin filming soon, it continues to be in limbo. Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull screenwriter David Koepp was previously on board to write the script for Indiana Jones 5. After departing the project, Koepp has apparently been brought back to continue his work.

“I’m working on it again,” Koepp noted when asked about the sequel’s progress with Den of Geek. “We’re still trying. And I think we’ve got a good idea this time. We’ll see.”

It’s unclear just what the “good idea” is just yet. But Koepp did hint at the possibilities of a new MacGuffin in a previous interview with Collider.

“I think that what [Indy] looks for and when he looks for it dictates what the movie’s gonna be,” explained Koepp. “So the selection of the MacGuffin is everything. I think Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, being set in 1957 there was a conscious desire to say, ‘Much like two of the other ones were World War II movies set in the 30s and early 40s, this is ’57 so a lot of our influences are gonna be science-fiction movies.’”

However, that the time of that Collider interview, Koepp did say that the project “feels like it has a lot of momentum behind it.” But aside from Ford’s comments, there’s been little movement with Indiana Jones 5.
