Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell May Return to Evil Dead

Last year Bruce Campbell “retired” as Ash Campbell following the cancellation of Ash vs. Evil Dead. Shortly after the Starz series was cancelled, details on a new Evil Dead video game surfaced. And now, word is that the boomstick-carrying hero could possibly make a comeback.

While speaking with Bloody Disgusting about the alligator horror movie Crawl, Sam Raimi made an interesting revelation about Evil Dead.

“I’d love to make another one,” said Raimi. “I don’t think TV is in its future but we’re talking about – Bruce (Campbell), Rob (Tapert) and myself – one or two different ways to go for the next movie…We’d like to make another Evil Dead feature and, in fact, we’re working on some ideas right now.”

Raimi did make note of Campbell’s “retirement” from the character last year, as well as a desire to bring back Fede Alvarez, the director of the 2013 Evil Dead remake.

“I would be thrilled if Bruce Campbell changed his mind about retirement, would come back for the original Evil Dead line,” continued Raimi. “But if not, I’m very happy to work with, if Fede (Alvarez) would come back and make the sequel. But he’s such a big shot now. He’s so successful, an artist in demand, that I don’t think he’d want to do that.”

He added that Alvarez’s film was an important “part of the Evil Dead universe, but not part of the Bruce Campbell storyline.”

Raimi teased a “third possibility” and added that we  “may see some action on the Evil Dead movie in the next six months.”
