Avengers: Endgame’s First Monday Brings in $37 Million

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame has already smashed box office records. Over its first weekend alone, it made $350 million domestically and $1.2 billion worldwide. That run continued Monday with an astonishing haul. Early tallies indicate that the blockbuster sequel made $37 million. That brings its domestic total to $394 million, and its worldwide tally to $1.34 billion. That puts it in the number ten spot of the top grossing movies of all time. And it hasn’t even been out a week!

Surprisingly enough, Endgame didn’t break the record for best Monday box office revenue. Star Wars: The Force Awakens made just over $40 million during its first Monday back in 2015. And Black Panther earned a similar amount in 2018, with $40.1 million on its first Monday. That puts Endgame in a third place spot.

Considering all the records it has set over this past weekend, that’s not bad news. Endgame‘s box office run will likely continue for quite a while.

Endgame should easily reach the $400 million mark, which it’s likely to do with today’s ticket sales. But can it beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ $937 million domestic haul? Or, for that matter, the $2.7 billion worldwide box office earned by Avatar during its run? It’s still too soon to call.

Next weekend, Endgame should rest comfortably at the top spot once again. The real question is how Endgame will fare when Warner Bros.’ Detective Pikachu arrives on March 10. It’s based on the Pokémon franchise, which has a huge fanbase. But it remains to be seen if it can unseat Endgame.
