Buratsuta confronts Ego Jinpachi
The chapter starts with Hirotoshi Buratsuta having a conversation with Ego Jinpachi. Buratsuta lashes out at Jinpachi for Japan’s loss against France and tells him to win. He asserts that if Japan fails to advance further, he will incur a major loss, as he has invested heavily in the Side-B program. However, Ego shuts him up by saying that they will win and he doesn’t care about money. Buratsuta also threatens Ego that he would be kicked out if Japan loses.
Nagi clears the first round
The scene then shifts to the Side-B camp, where Kira and Shindou are waiting for the other players who have cleared the stage. Nagi and Shigeo then enter the room as they clear the stage. The other players who join them are Nishioka and Ringo. While they advance to the next round, the Japan team is training for the next game.
Unknown England player challenges Japan
The players on the Japan team debate Ego’s words during a short break. While Hiori asserts that Ego’s techniques seem outdated, Aiku believes that he might not be the right coach, but that he can still teach them interesting things. Just then, a member of the England team enters their room and asks Japan to lose the next game. As he threatens the players, he claims he was sent by Fox to deliver the message. Aiku and the others say they won’t do what the next team wants. The England player then asserts that he will trample each one of them to make them lose the next game. He dribbles the ball away from the Japanese players and declares that he has no ego.
