What happened in One Piece Chapter 1184?
The previous chapter continues with Brook’s flashback. It begins with Princess Shuri, who’s now 14 years old, as she intimidates men who ask for her hand for marriage. She says that she doesn’t like weak men and those who can’t play any musical instruments. Shuri later tells 27-year-old Brook that she’s grown into a strong woman. The conversation soon gets too awkward for him.
Later, Brook and Shuri are seen sitting by a fountain, singing. He then tells her about how he met her father, Reuven. The chapter then shifts to another flashback, featuring an 11-year-old, filthy-looking Brook who stands outside a music school and admires the students inside. After people chase him away, Brook returns to the garbage dump where he lives.
As Brook sings and plays violin made from waste, a young Prince Reuven arrives. Brook then shares his food with him, unaware of Reuven’s royal status. He talks about preparing the food using some curry powder he stole from a navy ship. Despite the food looking unappealing, Reuven eats it. Brook refuses to take any money in return, and the two share drinks and spend some time together.
On a later random day, marine soldiers kidnap Brook and interrogate him about the stolen powder. Reuven barges into the place with Candelle, the commander of the royal guard. As he prepares to attack the soldiers, they reveal that they have the World Government’s support.
However, Reuven doesn’t care and rescues Brook. They take him to the Esperia Palace, where he is treated. Meanwhile, Candelle vents to the prince about running away from the castle before, but is relieved that he is spending time with Brook. Reuven then orders his men to enroll Brook in music school.
