Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Reveals How Movie Charlotte Differs From Games

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 introduced Charlotte Emily from the video games, but there is one major difference between the live-action version of the character and her video game counterpart. Though the difference may be small, it makes a big difference to the storyline.

How is Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’s Charlotte Emily different from the games?

Charlotte Emily is introduced in the opening sequence of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Audrey Lynn-Marie’s Charlotte is depicted as a loner and an outsider obsessed with the Marionette at the original Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria.

Charlotte later dies a bloody death at the Pizzeria, which leads to the location shutting down. She later possesses the Marionette, and on being freed, sets out on a plan for vengeance.

While the base story of Charlotte is similar in the film and the video game, there are some key differences between them.

In the video game, Charlotte was killed by William Afton after she was locked outside the Pizzeria. Many theorized that she was one of Afton’s first victims.

In Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the manner of Charlotte’s death differs slightly. In the film, she witnesses Afton kidnapping a child in the Pizzeria. She asks several adults to help, but she is brushed off. Charlotte ultimately decides to help the boy herself.

She does manage to rescue the boy, but while carrying him out, Afton finds her and stabs her from behind. Charlotte’s body falls through the trap door and into the arms of the Marionette.

Another major difference is Charlotte’s personality. In the video game, she is a kind-hearted and selfless young girl. In the movie, she starts similarly, but turns vengeful as a spirit and deliberately exacts revenge on adults.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is now playing in theatres.
