It: Welcome to Derry premiered its Episode 2 after the blood bath witnessed in the first one. The show came out on October 26, 2025, on HBO. Here is an overview of the ending of It: Welcome to Derry Episode 2, and what Operation Precept is.
What do the soldiers discover in It: Welcome to Derry Episode 2 ending?
According to a report by ScreenRant, Episode 2 of the new show, It: Welcome to Derry, concludes with the military finally discovering the location. This will further provide them with a clue to Pennywise’s whereabouts. Led by Chris Chalk’s Dick Hallorann, the soldiers also discover many dead bodies and lost objects as they dig deeper into the site.
While Episode 2 doesn’t provide many details, it’s clear that the bodies are victims of Pennywise. It has been constantly preying on the kids in the town. Therefore, the bodies don’t seem to be a surprising factor for the military.
What is Operation Precept in It: Welcome to Derry Episode 2?
Operation Precept is a mission introduced by General Shaw, played by James Remar, to Leroy Hanlon, played by Jovan Adepo, in Episode 2, titled “The Thing in the Dark.”
According to a report by GamesRadar, this operation is classified and falls under the purview of the Department of Defense. Shaw explains that by using this operation, they are attempting to locate a weapon to suppress enemy nations rather than creating one. He states that the weapon, Pennywise, is one who “could scare a man badly enough to kill him where he stands.”
The general also noted that the weapon was buried under the town of Derry a long time ago. While the operation appears to be a crucial plot point in the show, it was not part of the source material, Stephen King’s novel, It.
