Dean Cipher and Marie Moreau’s history in Gen V Season 2 explained
Serving as a bridge between The Boys Season 4 and 5, Gen V Season 2 is making breakthroughs in terms of superhero secrets. Marie and her friends uncovered several truths about The Odessa Project. Marie learned that she was the result of the project’s experiment and was probably the only survivor. The project aimed to create Supes through the natural process of birth by mixing Compound V into the DNA. This contrasted with injecting kids with Compound V, which generally posed fatal side effects.
Cipher, on the other hand, is a new character in the series. He initially appeared as the new dean of Godolkin University (God U). However, as the season progressed, the show revealed his connection to The Odessa Project.
When Marie learned the truth about her birth, she visited her Aunt Pam, a close friend of her mother. While hesitant at first, Pam revealed that when Marie’s parents couldn’t conceive a child, they approached the God U clinic. Through the combination of the clinic’s IVF-like treatment and Compound V, Marie was born with special abilities. But that was not all.
Pam also kept a set of photos from the clinic on the day Marie was born. One of the photos revealed that Cipher, whose real name is Doctor Gould, was the doctor who delivered Marie at the clinic. This made Cipher’s connection to Marie far deeper and more personal than she could have imagined.
You can stream Gen V Season 2, Episode 1-3 on Amazon Prime Video starting September 17, 2025.
