Gen V Season 2: What is The Odessa Project?

The first three episodes of Gen V Season 2 delved quite deep into The Odessa Project. It is a mysterious project that was teased in The Boys, the show for which Gen V serves as a spin-off, and the trailer for Season 2. The details on the project also support some major theories for the main series.

Here are details about the project as per the first three episodes.

Everything we know about the Odessa Project in Gen V Season 2 so far

Gen V Season 2 premiered on September 17, 2025, with the first three episodes. The show revealed that The Odessa Project is a secret Vought experiment that aims at creating new Supes. The project was featured in a flashback at the beginning of the first episode, “New Year, New U.” It centered on Doctor Thomas Godolkin, the founder of Godolkin University (God U), and his team of scientists. He also had a close relationship with Vought’s Dr. Frederick Vought, the creator of Compound V.

The scientists who were working on creating Compound V injected themselves with it, resulting in everyone’s death. The disaster also led to the lab catching fire, killing Godolkin as well. In Season 2’s current timeline, Vought is trying to bring the experiment back to life.

Cut to Episode 2, “Justice Never Forgets”, Marie Moreau got her hands on a file with the project’s details in it. She learned that she’s the result of The Odessa Project, and probably the sole survivor of the tests. To know more about where she came from, Marie visited Aunt Pam, a close friend of her mother.

Pam revealed that when her parents couldn’t conceive her or afford an IVF treatment, they turned to God U, which was once again experimenting with Compound V. Marie was conceived using a combination of their treatment and Compound V, embedding the serum in her genes to reduce side effects. Pam also had a photo of the day she was born. Shockingly, it featured Cipher, the new headmaster at God U, in the background.

Additionally, the show also hinted that Homelander could be the first success story of The Odessa Project, similar to Marie. So, since Vought is restarting the program, they could be trying to create an army of Supes that would follow Homelander’s lead.

You can stream the first three episodes of Gen V Season 2 on Amazon Prime Video.
