A new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 has just been released, and it offers more glimpses at what fans can expect from the upcoming season, including the eponymous protagonist’s conflict with Rick Flag Sr. However, it also revealed one shocking detail: the return of The White Dragon, a.k.a. Auggie Smith, Peacemaker’s racist dad, whom he killed in the Season 1 finale. As such, fans might be wondering how the character returns in spite of his death.
Here’s how Peacemaker’s dad, the White Dragon, returns in Peacemaker Season 2.
How is the White Dragon alive in Peacemaker Season 2?
The White Dragon returns in Peacemaker Season 2 as John Cena’s hero travels to an alternate dimension, where the latter is a celebrated superhero.
Robert Patrick, the actor behind the White Dragon, confirmed his return during an appearance at a spotlight panel in Tampa Bay Comic Con last year (via PopVerse). Around this time, James Gunn confirmed via an Instagram story that he had filmed a scene involving Cena and Patrick. The filmmaker wrote, “Filming with these guys right now. @johncena @ripfighter.”
Auggie Smith’s role in Season 2 is largely unknown. However, he may have a different dynamic with his son due to the latter’s superhero status.
Peacemaker Season 2 will largely focus on the conflict between Chris Smith and Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr., who wants revenge against the former for killing his son, Rick Flag Jr., in The Suicide Squad. Moreover, the upcoming installment will also focus on a brewing romance between Smith and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland).
Peacemaker Season 2 was created by James Gunn, who wrote all eight episodes while also directing three of them.
Besides Cena, Patrick, Holland, and Grillo, Season 2’s cast includes Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, and Steve Agee as John Economos. New cast members include Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, and Michael Rooker as Red St. Wild.
In addition, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Sean Gunn will reprise their roles of Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, and Maxwell Lord, respectively from Superman.
