Which Universe Is Doctor Doom From? Fantastic Four’s Earth-828?

Wondering which universe Doctor Doom comes from in the MCU? The Fantastic Four: First Steps credits scene hints at a powerful connection between Doctor Doom and Earth-828. With Franklin Richards’ powers drawing attention and Latveria’s presence confirmed, the clues point to one reality.

Here’s whether Doctor Doom is from the Fantastic Four’s Earth-828.

Is Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom from Fantastic Four’s Earth-828?

Doctor Doom appears in the mid-credits scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but his face is never shown.

The cloaked figure is seen kneeling beside Franklin Richards, holding his mask while Franklin touches his face. The scene takes place four years after the film’s events and was directed by the Russo Brothers. This confirms its intentional connection to Avengers: Doomsday. Robert Downey Jr. does not physically appear, although he is officially cast as Doom in that film.

The character is linked to Earth-828, the universe in which The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set. The film includes subtle references to Latveria’s existence on Earth-828, including an empty seat at the United Nations with the Latverian flag. Director Matt Shakman previously stated that he did not film any Doom scenes, aligning with the fact that this stinger was a separate production.

There is no indication that the Fantastic Four had any prior encounters with Doom. The opening montage and the in-universe cartoon do not mention Victor Von Doom. The mid-credits scene marks his first appearance and connection to the team.

The animated second post-credits scene focuses on a parody cartoon and features no further Doom content. The first post-credits sequence ends with the message “The Fantastic Four will return in Avengers: Doomsday,” tying Doom’s introduction directly to the next Avengers entry.

While Marvel has not confirmed Doctor Doom’s origin universe, all visual and narrative cues place him within Earth-828. Latveria does not exist in the Sacred Timeline (Earth-616), suggesting this version of Doom originates from the same universe as the current Fantastic Four. The full backstory and motivations will be explored further in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
