Wondering who lives and who dies in James Gunn’s new Superman movie? A lot happens during the course of the first DCU movie, and there are some big moments and significant deaths.
Here is a breakdown of all the on-screen deaths that happen during the runtime of the new Superman movie.

List of everyone who dies in Superman
There are not a lot of major deaths in Superman. As this is the first movie of the new DCU, certain notable deaths will likely impact events within the shared universe beyond this film.
The Kaiju
The Kaiju that Lex Luthor lets loose on Earth is the first death in Superman. The Justice Gang, with the help of Superman, takes it down. The thick-skinned monster initially seems invulnerable, but Hawkgirl and Green Lantern target its eyes, and Mr. Terrific uses his T-spheres to destroy its organs from within.
Mali aka Malik Ali
Malik Ali is a street vendor who feeds Superman food. Lex Luthor brings Malik to his pocket dimension to extract answers from Superman and accidentally kills him earlier than he expects to, as he plays Russian Roulette while pointing the gun at a tied-up Malik.
President of Boravia, Vasil Ghurkos
The President of Boravia, Vasil Ghurkos, is also killed in the movie when Hawkgirl tries to stop Boravia’s attack on Jaharanpur. She drops him from a great height after Ghurkos taunts her and suggests she won’t do it because she is like Superman.
Ultraman
The big final death in the movie is Ultraman, who is pulled into a black hole within Luthor’s pocket universe at the end of his fight with Superman. He is presumably dead, but given his incredible strength and powers, it’s possible that he could have survived somehow.
