Ironheart’s filming took place in the following locations:
Chicago, Illinois
Chicago, the most populous city in Illinois, was used to film outdoor scenes and background shots for Ironheart. This was done to ensure authenticity and showcase the culture in which Riri Williams was brought up. The South Side and Downtown Chicago, as well as the Near North Side, served as major filming locations.
Certain background shots were filmed in Chicago as early as May 2022, before actual filming commenced in June at Trillith Studios in Georgia. The production again took place in Chicago from late October to early November.
Key filming locations include Stan’s Donut Shop, which is named in the show as Stanton’s Sweets, Reads & More, and the astrophysics public museum, the Adler Planetarium.
Atlanta, Georgia
A significant portion of Ironheart was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, where many Marvel Studios productions were filmed. Some scenes were filmed in Sweet Auburn, a neighborhood in Atlanta. In addition, filming took place at a building constructed to resemble a White Castle restaurant. The White Castle set was built on a six-acre lot at Edgewood Avenue.
Fayetteville, Georgia
Trillith Studios, a 700-acre site featuring a 400-acre backlot and 32 sound stages, where multiple Marvel Studios productions were filmed, served as a primary filming location for both exterior and interior scenes. Multiple action sequences were filmed in this location due to the need for a controlled environment.
All six episodes of Ironheart are currently available to stream on Disney+. Chinaka Hodge, who previously worked on projects like Snowpiercer and Amazing Stories, helmed the series.
