Is Squid Game Season 4 canceled or renewed?
Squid Game Season 3 is the final chapter of the series on Netflix. It won’t get renewed for Season 4.
Creator director Hwang Dong-hyuk recently revealed that Squid Game Season 3 will wrap up the story. He said, “After watching Season 3, some may think there’s room for a Season 4, while others may feel there’s no need for one.” However, he has left the room open for making spin-offs, but has no immediate plans to make anything related to the series for now. “I have considered the idea of a spin-off. There were moments during production when I grew curious myself,” he added. (via Korea Times)
Previously, in an interview with IndieWire on the red carpet at the 2025 Gotham Television Award, Dong-Hyuk shared what spin-off he would like to bring to the screen. He elaborated, “If I make [a] spin off, it will be a story happening between Season 1 and 2. There [was] a three years gap between Season 1 and 2. So, I want to show what they did for those times.”
Additionally, renowned scooper, @MyTimeToShineHello on X claimed, “The Squid Game S3 finale sets up the American spinoff that David Fincher is developing.” It was also revealed that the survival games would be moved to the US and would explore new social themes.
Another potential spin-off could be The Front Man’s origin story. Lee Byung-hun has revealed that he and Dong-Hyuk had plans to explore the villain’s backstory during Season 2’s making. At the time, these plans didn’t materialize, but they may come to fruition in the future.
All episodes of Squid Game Season 3 will be out on Netflix on June 27.
