Giganto is an immensely large monster who appears to unleash terror and chaos across the city of New York in the latest promo for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The live-action Giganto made his debut in a Little Caesar’s ad. In the clip, an employee of the pizza company gives details on their delicious servings but is attacked mid-way by Giganto and taken away. As the monster goes through the city, taking him and causing destruction, the first family enters to rescue him.
In the comics, Giganto was a pawn to Mole Man, who first appeared in Fantastic Four #1 in 1961. He lives on Monster Isle. Mole Man used him to destroy atomic power plants for his own gain. When the Fantastic Four attempt to investigate this case, Mole Man sends Giganto to deal with them.
Later, upon the arrival of Skrulls, he was controlled using their slave darts and was sent to Earth to increase global mental stress. It was later known that the Skrulls were after the egg of an Inorganic Technotroid, which was then retrieved by Giganto. He bonded with the hatched egg, and he and his mate kept the technotroid as their own child.
