Curious about Lady Gaga’s mysterious role in Season 2 of Wednesday? The Grammy and Oscar-winning star is officially joining the dark world of Nevermore Academy, sparking fan speculation with her dramatic Tudum reveal and cryptic teasers. With new horrors on the horizon and Wednesday Addams facing unfamiliar threats, Gaga’s character could prove to be a game-changer.
Here’s what we know about Rosaline Rotwood’s debut.
Who is Lady Gaga’s Rosaline Rotwood in Wednesday Season 2’s cast?
Lady Gaga plays Rosaline Rotwood in Wednesday Season 2, as confirmed during Netflix’s Tudum 2025 event. Netflix describes Rosaline Rotwood as a “legendary Nevermore teacher” who crosses paths with Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams. Her character will appear as a guest star in Part 2 of the season, which will be released on September 3, 2025.
Gaga’s casting was first reported by Entertainment Weekly in November 2024, with her role remaining undisclosed until Tudum. She closed the livestream event by emerging from a coffin marked “Here Lies the Monster Queen” and performed a medley including “Zombieboy,” “Bloody Mary,” and “Abracadabra” from her recent album Mayhem. Jenna Ortega joined her onstage during the “Abracadabra” segment, which ended with Gaga dancing atop a banquet table before returning to the coffin with Thing.
“Bloody Mary” previously went viral on TikTok during Wednesday Season 1, soundtracking Ortega’s dance scene and helping the 2011 song reach No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022. Gaga recreated the viral dance during the Tudum performance, accompanied by goth schoolgirls dancing to “Goo Goo Muck,” the original track used in the show.
Ortega expressed her wish in early 2023 for Gaga to join the series, telling Variety, “If Lady Gaga were to be a part of it, they’d have to be two monsters who understand each other.” Gaga later told EW she had an “amazing time” filming with Ortega but avoided revealing details about her character.
Show co-creator Miles Millar teased more intense horror elements in Season 2. The cast also includes Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Fred Armisen, Emma Myers, and newcomers like Steve Buscemi and Haley Joel Osment. Part 1 of Wednesday Season 2 premieres August 6, 2025.
