Wednesday Season 3 Adds Tim Burton Muse for Key Role

Netflix has officially welcomed the addition of a new key cast member for Wednesday Season 3, who is set to play the series regular role of the mysterious Ophelia Frump. This comes nearly three months after the latest installment debuted its last four episodes. Unlike the first season, Season 2 was able to score a Certified Fresh rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 97 reviews.

Who is joining Wednesday Season 3?

According to Deadline, Golden Globe nominee Eva Green has signed on for the role of Ophelia Frump in Wednesday Season 3. This marks Green’s latest collaboration with Tim Burton after previously working together in 2012’s Dark Shadows, 2016’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and 2019’s Dumbo. She will next be seen in Cary Joji Fukunaga’s crime thriller Blood on Snow and Martin Campbell’s thriller Just Play Dead.

During Season 1, Ophelia was introduced as Morticia Addams’ missing sister, who has similar psychic abilities to Wednesday. In the latest season, the character made her first onscreen appearance, but the show kept her identity a secret by not showing her face. Season 2 ended with the revelation that Ophelia wasn’t really missing; Grandmama was actually keeping her in a dungeon-like room. She is expected to play a larger role in Season 3, especially after leaving fans curious as to why she wrote “Wednesday Must Die” in her cell.

Wednesday is executive-produced and directed by Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride), based on the characters by cartoonist Charles Addams. The show is led by Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, Emma Myers as Enid, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, and Georgie Farmer as Ajax.

The latest season also introduced Lady Gaga, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah B. Taylor, Steve Buscemi, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo, Anthony Michael Hall, and Christopher Lloyd. The Back to the Future vet originally portrayed Fester Addams in the original live-action movies, where he co-starred alongside Anjelica Huston and Raúl Juliá.
