Avengers: Doomsday Kang: Will Jonathan Majors’ Return?

After Jonathan Majors was dropped from the role of Kang the Conqueror, fans have been speculating whether the multiversal villain will return in Avengers: Doomsday. Is Jonathan Majors going to return, or will there be a new casting? Here are all the details and more.

Will Jonathan Majors’ Kang be in Avengers: Doomsday?

While Jonathan Majors has expressed his desire to return as Kang if called back, he is most likely not to return.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Majors confirmed he would reprise Kang in the MCU if given the opportunity. When asked if he’d say yes to Marvel’s call, he responded, “Yeah, of course, I say yes. Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them.” He praised his Marvel co-stars, including Tom Hiddleston and Paul Rudd, and expressed his passion for the industry.

Notably, Marvel Studios dropped Majors in December 2023 following his conviction for misdemeanor assault and harassment against his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.

Jonathan Majors revealed he sent a letter to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige after his dismissal but received no response. “I love that man. I’ve got nothing but love for Marvel. I didn’t hear back,” he admitted. (via Comic Book Movie) 

With Majors most likely out, Marvel is reportedly considering recasting Kang for Avengers: Doomsday. Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider suggested on The Hot Mic podcast that the studio may wrap up Kang’s storyline quickly, possibly with Doctor Doom taking over as the primary villain. Sneider also mentioned that Severance actor Tramell Tillman could be in talks to replace Majors. While this remains unconfirmed, Tillman’s performance in Severance has garnered attention, making him a strong contender.

Other actors, like Colman Domingo, have distanced themselves from the role, while Michael B. Jordan publicly supported Majors. Whether Kang will be recast or written out entirely remains to be seen, but Avengers: Doomsday may mark the end of his arc in the MCU. For now, Marvel’s plans remain unclear, and Kang’s future in the MCU seems uncertain.
