Captain America 4: Where Are the Hulk & She-Hulk During Brave New World?

Curious to know whether Bruce Banner’s Hulk or She-Hulk appears in Captain America: Brave New World? With the return of familiar faces from The Incredible Hulk, fans have speculated about potential cameos and unexpected appearances.

Here’s what we know so far about Hulk, She-Hulk, and their connection to Captain America 4.

Is She-Hulk or the Hulk in Captain America 4: Brave New World?

Bruce Banner’s Hulk and She-Hulk do not appear in Captain America 4: Brave New World.

Mark Ruffalo initially stated in February 2024 that he would reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk (via Collider), but Variety later confirmed that Ruffalo misspoke and would not be in the film.

Despite widespread speculation due to the inclusion of The Incredible Hulk characters like Betty Ross, The Leader, and Red Hulk, the film focuses on a grounded action thriller narrative without Hulk’s presence.

The film mentions Bruce Banner, acknowledging his existence in the MCU without showing him on screen. Since his last appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he introduced his son Skaar, fans have speculated that Banner remains off-world, possibly on Sakaar, focusing on his son and their relationship. His absence aligns with the film’s reset of the MCU, which introduces new themes and antagonists without directly involving Hulk.

She-Hulk, last seen in her own series, is speculated to remain in Los Angeles. She continues her legal career and superhero duties. Kevin Feige and Anthony Mackie described the film’s tone as similar to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It emphasizes political conspiracies and human conflicts. This aligns with the absence of She-Hulk, whose fourth-wall-breaking style might not fit this narrative.

While the movie includes key Hulk-related characters and themes, it intentionally excludes Hulk and She-Hulk. It focuses on Sam Wilson’s journey as Captain America. This choice reflects the film’s aim to establish a new phase in the MCU, despite Hulk’s strong connections to the characters and conflicts.

Captain America: Brave New World is now in theatres.
