Super7 Offers Limited Godzilla Minus One Minus Color Figure Variant

In celebration of all its awards nominations, including a first-ever Oscar nod for a Godzilla movie, Godzilla Minus One returned to theaters for one week in a special black and white version. Godzilla Minus One Minus Color, as it’s affectionately dubbed, isn’t just a regular print with the color drained from it — it’s been newly adjusted for contrast to make the grayscale pop even more. Both a tribute to the very first Godzilla, and an attempt to add verite by making it look like old news footage, Godzilla Minus One Minus Color has been described by director Takashi Yamazaki as scarier and more immediate-feeling than the color print.

Hue-Down Hoedown

To celebrate, Super7 seized the opportunity to do a grayscale repaint of their Godzilla Minus One figure, in a limited run of 1500. Preorders will only stay open for a week, rather than the usual month, or while supplies last, with midnight Feb 1 as the cutoff date and time. Indeed, by the time you read this, it’s possible they’ll already be sold out. If so, check other online retailers, who often get their own assortment. Like its color variant, Godzilla Minus Color will cost $85 plus shipping and tax where applicable.

As Super7 describes it, “Based on the same 3D models used for the 2023 film Godzilla Minus One and approved by director Takashi Yamazaki for authenticity, this highly-articulated Toho ULTIMATES! Godzilla Minus One Minus Color figure measures over 8” tall and 14” long, features intricate sculpt and grayscale paint detailing, and comes with an interchangeable roaring head- all of which give it a visceral sense of power and danger!”

Godzilla Minus One takes the kaiju franchise back to its roots, taking place shortly after World War II, as a monster mutated by atomic testing emerges to destroy everything in its path…and remind one particular man of his survivor’s guilt.
