Hot Toys Will Make the Iron Man Mark II Suit Even Shinier

When Tony Stark made his second Iron Man suit in the MCU, now with all the luxuries of a high-tech lab and an assisting AI in the form of JARVIS, it was, to quote Madonna, shiny and new. Particularly relative to the clunky costume built in a cave, the Iron Man Mark II suit became the true prototype of all that came after. Those slit eyes and mouth, the flip-up face, the repulsor rays, the ARC reactor powering from the chest — all these features would inform each subsequent suit.

Shell Shining

Hot Toys made a Mark II figure once before but just unveiled an update that’s super shiny and new, made of chromed diecast. With over 100 silver chrome armor pieces, it literally outshines any other Hot Toys figure to date. It almost goes without saying that, of course, it includes a Robert Downey Jr. likeness with articulated eyes. All it’s missing, perhaps — and will never get — is a Terrence Howard figure to say, “Next time.”

Here’s the official description: “Features a newly developed head sculpt with astonishing likeness and separate rolling eyeball system; an interchangeable Iron Man helmet with LED light-up eyes; LED lighted design on arc reactor, and palms to create the eye-catching illuminated effect. Interchangeable open armor parts provide additional options to display the figure in different stages of the armor assembly and showcase the transformation of Iron Man. A specially designed figure base inspired by Tony Stark’s workshop is included to add an immersive element to the display, making it feel like the figure is truly part of Stark’s world.”

So how much is this beauty? Not cheap. For diecast metal and chrome, you’ll need to lay down some Stark-level bucks. $455 of them, to be exact. But in return, you get some serious bragging rights.
