LEGO Reveals Its First Avatar Set, From the Original Movie

For the first Avatar, merchandising stayed surprisingly minimal. Despite the big name of James Cameron attached, companies rarely take a chance on new and unproven properties in a big way. So we got some Mattel toys, but not much else. Now that Avatar is a franchise, however, companies are going all-in on deals for not just The Way of Water, but the first film retroactively too. LEGO scored the construction toy license, and their first Avatar set goes back to the first movie’s climax. It’s Toruk Makto at the Tree of Souls.

With minifigs of Mo’at, Tsu’tey, Neytiri, and Avatar Jake, this set also gives us the first look at Na’vi minifigs. They appear to have regular torsos, extended legs, and elongated heads relative to the average. The Tree of Souls includes poseable vines to wrap around figures, and includes and additional backdrop diorama piece with mini “floating” islands. Toruk features wings that can spread open to 15 inches wide. Glow-in-the-dark pieces add a bioluminscent effect. The set also features a newly molded Direhorse.
