DC Direct Introduces Bargain “Page Punchers” Figure Line

As prices for 6-inch and up action figures start heading further north of the $20 price point, expect more companies to switch to smaller toys. The idea being that kids need something they can afford with their allowances, still. No doubt with this in mind, Todd McFarlane today introduced DC Page Punchers. Sold under the DC Direct brand, these smaller figures sport 6 points of articulation and come with comics. The price point? A cool $9.99.

It’s not clear exactly how small these figures stand. Will they reach 3-3/4 inches, compatible with Spin Master Batman and Retro Marvel Legends? Or, more likely, smaller and in their own scale?

See if you can guess, by watching Todd McFarlane’s video below:

The comics appear to be reproductions of recent popular comics featuring the characters. And the initial lineup includes Batman, Superman, Flash, and Black Adam. (The latter two choices seem to count on two particular movies doing very well in the lead-up to the toys’ release.)

What do you make of the new Page Punchers line? Will you pick some up? Does scale matter? Let us know what you think about these smaller action figures, in comments below.
