New Transformers Figures and Theme for 2020 Revealed

Just ahead of New York Comic Con, Hasbro made some big new Transformers figures announcements. Next year’s overriding theme comes as the logical next installment to War for Cybertron, as the Transformers come to Earth. This gives Hasbro the chance to revisit classic Generation 1 designs, as well as several all-new items that utilize buildable modular playset action features.

Here’s the official description:

This ecosystem of collectible figures allows fans to build out epic space battle scenes and connect figures together to expand and customize the battlefield! Every pack includes a piece of the TRANSFORMERS Universe Map and a red decoder to unlock the map’s hidden paths! Collect other EARTHRISE figures to piece together the full map.

Build the ultimate battlefield with the WAR FOR CYBERTRON: EARTHRISE figures (each sold separately, subject to availability). The siege is over, but the War for Cybertron has just begun. The AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS have left CYBERTRON, but their battle rages on as they speed through space in pursuit of the ALLSPARK. Adult fans nostalgic for the original TRANSFORMERS animation and kids discovering classic characters for the first time can share and experience exciting play patterns for all generations.

A remake of Optimus Prime with his classic cab and trailer mode should please any old-school fans. Grapple also gives a familiar design a new spin. Ironworks is slightly different. This Autobot who disassembles into a battle station. Moreover,  he can also donate his parts to armor up other robots and plug in Micromasters. Two of which, Daddy-O and Trip-Up, are new to the line.
