10 DC Comics Cities Perfect for Their Own TV Series

METROPOLIS

Notable Residents? Clark Kent (Superman), Lois Lane, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, Lana Lang, Kara Zor-El (Supergirl), Ben Lockwood (Agent Liberty), Ray Palmer (The Atom), Michael Jon Carter (Booster Gold), John Corben (Metallo), Oswald Loomis (The Prankster), and Lex Luthor.

Notable Locations? The Daily Planet, S.T.A.R. Labs, Lexcorp.

What’s the Focus? Given Superman’s big screen presence, Ray Palmer’s addition to “Arrow,” and Supergirl’s recently-announced CBS series, the only heroes left in Metropolis that could possibly be the focus are the scrubs. But what if it didn’t focus on heroes at all? What if, like “Gotham,” a Metropolis series focused on the people of the city, but unlike “Gotham” it wasn’t origin stories for the future villains that Superman will one day fight? Set it in the continuity of Man of Steel, like “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and the MCU, with the focus on the police, the press, and the citizens living around all of the craziness going on in the world. There will no doubt be hints about rebuilding Metropolis in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but you can really go into detail on those things here or even begin “Metropollis” before Superman arrives in the city in Man of Steel.

The next entry on our list has no human citizens. Prisoners maybe, but no residents. See where it is on page 9.
