Major DC Villain Makes Shocking Return After Death

It was no secret that the DC K.O. event would feature a number of major character deaths. That is to be expected in a cosmic tournament with the fate of the universe at stake. However, a major DC villain was resurrected as part of the event in the most unexpected way possible.

Major DC Villain Makes Shocking Return After Death

The shocking resurrection was revealed in DC K.O.: Superman vs. Captain Atom #1. Written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Sean Izaakse, the special primarily focused upon the title fight. However, the final pages of the issue shifted focus to the Justice League Watchtower. It was here that the an assemblage of cosmic beings and time-travelers observed the tournament to determine who would claim the Omega Power of Darkseid.

The New Gods tyrant has been presumed dead since 2024’s DC All-In #1. Despite this, Darkseid has been busy, creating the Absolute Universe and corrupting the 31st century Legion of Super-Heroes. Given that, it has been clear for sometime that Darkseid would be resurrected at some point in the future. However, it has been uncertain just when he would return. The answer came in DC K.O.: Superman vs. Captain Atom #1 as Darkseid revealed himself. What’s more, the leader of the evil New Gods confirmed that he had been close at hand for some time.

In the midst of their plotting, Booster Gold attacked the Time Trapper Doomsday. By doing this, “Booster” revealed himself to be either possessed by Darkseid or Darkseid in disguise. The time-traveling hero had recently been rescued from the 31st century, where he was held by the Omega Legion. Apparently that rescue was all according to Darkseid’s plans.

The issue ends with the World Forger, a cosmic being who creates universes, sneaking up on Darkseid. With powers based around creation, he may be an effective counter to a god of destruction like Darkseid. In any case, there is sure to be a battle in the next chapter of the DC K.O. event.
