Rare Wolverine Story by Chris Claremont to be Reprinted for First Time

Like Logan. Chris Claremont is regarded as the best there is at what he does. In Claremont’s case, however, what he does is write X-Men stories. Now Marvel is honoring Claremont’s legacy by reprinting a story few have ever read in Wolverine by Chris Claremont #1.

Rare Wolverine Story by Chris Claremont to be Reprinted for First Time

The story was originally written for the Marvel Made Paragon Collection: Chris Claremont Premier Bundle. Printed in 2021 as a limited-edition prestige hardcover volume, this bundle also contained an original prequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past. This rare story was also recently scheduled for reprinting as part of a one-shot special.

Featuring art by Tom Reilly, the new story expands upon Claremont’s beloved 1982 Wolverine series and Logan’s past. The plot centers around a conflict with Logan’s archenemy Sabretooth and his scheme to kill the love of Logan’s life. Logan may be the best there is at what he does, but Victor Creed is the worst.

Three unlettered pages from the special, described as “one of the bloodiest fights you’ve ever seen,” may be viewed below.

When does Wolverine by Chris Claremont #1 release?

Wolverine by Chris Claremont #1 is scheduled for release on August 6, 2025. This will put it in comic shops everywhere approximately one month after the Days of Future Past prequel. These are but two of the specials Marvel has planned this summer to honor the 50th anniversary of Giant-Size X-Men #1 and Chris Claremont’s legendary work.
