DC Comics has big plans in 2025, with the Summer of Superman initiative coinciding with the new film’s release. The publisher previously announced several comic specials and new Superman series starting this summer. Now DC has confirmed a new treasury-size special that is also historically notable.

Written by Dan Jurgens, with art by Bruno Redondo and Adriano Lucas, the special is titled Superman Treasury 2025: Hero for All. The details of the story are being kept secret for now. However, DC has described it as “a larger-than-life story of power, tragedy, action, and, above all—hope.”
Jurgens and Redondo have both crafted variant covers for the comic. It will also feature a double-sided variant by Scott Koblish, depicting the Man of Steel, his variants, his allies, and his enemies. All four covers may be viewed in full below.

Why is the new Superman comic a big deal for DC?
All things considered, the most notable aspect of Superman Treasury 2025: Hero for All is its size. Treasury Size comics are printed in dimensions of 10 1/8” x 13 5/16”. This is significantly larger than the size of a standard American comic book. Indeed, it is almost twice as big. This marks the first time DC has published a story in this format in over 25 years.

“Since Superman is the cornerstone on which our entire industry is built, the term ‘Treasury Sized Edition’ seems to be the perfect vehicle for him,” said Jurgens. “As a kid, the term ‘Treasury Edition’ meant that it was sure to be a special project and one that I just had to have. From the very start, most of those projects focused on Superman. It was an honor, years later, to be able to add to that lineup of Treasury Editions with Superman vs. The Fantastic Four.”

“The larger page size gives the artist every opportunity to push the scope of the story into something that explodes off the page,” Jurgens continued. “That is just what Bruno Redondo is working overtime to do. He has a wide range of characters and plenty of big story moments to play with. He’s going all-out to give readers a visual treat that they’re sure to love.” Jurgens concluded this format was “the perfect way to acknowledge and celebrate this Summer of Superman.”
Superman Treasury 2025: Hero for All arrives in comic shops everywhere on July 2, 2025.
