There is a tradition of crossovers between the many characters created by Hanna-Barbera. Beyond such cartoons as Laff-A-Lympics or the more recent Jellystone, even action heroes like Space Ghost and the Herculoids occasionally joined forces. That tradition continues with a new event that brings the Defender of the Spaceways to Earth and an encounter with Jonny Quest. However, the first preview of the Space Quest event suggests a relationship between the two heroes that is adversarial at first.
Written by Joe Casey with art by Sebastián Píriz, the first chapter finds the Quest family summoned to Area 51. They are asked to investigate whether a strange craft recovered by the American government is truly alien. However, the ship’s pilot is an intergalactic fugitive and Space Ghost and his sidekicks are on their trail. Based on the preview, it seems the two teams come to blows before working together.
The preview pages also reintroduce the character of Jade from the original Jonny Quest cartoon. A mercenary for hire, Jade was also an old flame of Quest family bodyguard, Race Bannon. It will be interesting to see what role she plays in the series and which side she will take in the coming conflict.

Space Ghost & Jonny Quest: Space Quest the “ultimate Hanna-Barbera crossover.”
In discussing the series, Casey describes Space Quest as a “crossover of concepts as much as it is of the characters.” He added that he can’t believe nobody has teamed these characters up in this way before. “It was easy to look at the two concepts and see how they could fit together,” Casey noted. “Once you see it, it’s so gloriously obvious that it just feels right.”
