Marvel Comics has teased the X-Manhunt event for several months. However, just what would push Professor X to escape from prison after refusing to be rescued during the recent Raid on Graymalkin was a mystery. The answer arrived in the preview of Uncanny X-Men #11. This revealed that the X-Men founder was spurred into action by the endangerment of his daughter.

Written by Gail Simone, with art by Javier Garron, Uncanny X-Men #11 opens at Graymalkin Prison. The anti-Mutant organization running the prison is still rebuilding in the wake of the recent raid. However, despite their strained resources, they are still able to detect it when Xavier’s body goes into a sudden state of shock. This is due to his sensing a team of Shi’ar rebels ambushing his daughter, Xandra Neramani, and her cry for help.

Professor X’s Daughter in X-Men Comics Explained
The fact that Professor X had a daughter with his longtime lover, the empress Lilandra, may be news to casual X-Men readers. It was certainly a surprise to Charles Xavier when he learned he had a child. This confusion is understandable, however, as Xandra first appeared in a relatively recent storyline.
Xandra Neramani first appeared in 2018’s Mr. & Mrs. X miniseries. She was created from the genetic material of her parents, in secret, after both their deaths. Inheriting the psychic powers of her father, she was chosen as new Shi’ar empress. Since that time, various X-Men teams worked to help Xandra protect her throne, before her father’s resurrection.

It is unclear just what help Professor X may have to offer his daughter as X-Manhunt continues. While Xavier is powerful, he has also lost the support of most of his allies following the Fall of the House of X. Those few who still support him are also limited in their ability to help him get off of Earth.
