Marvel’s Captain America/Iron Man Miniseries Launches in November

Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are currently among Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Marvel’s primary Avengers series. But this fall, the two will break away from their allies and embark on their own adventure. Marvel has shared the first details for Captain America/Iron Man, an upcoming five-issue miniseries. Writer Derek Landy and artist Angel Unzueta are the creative team.

The new series kicks off with a “government agent turned Hydra provocateur” escaping custody and drawing the title characters’ attention. It isn’t long before Tony and Steve realize they both have a personal connection to this mysterious criminal. And along the way, their pursuit lands them in the crosshairs of a much larger threat.

“Ever since the pandemic hit, I’ve been making my way through the old Marvel omnibuses, reading all the stories from the ’60s that I’d only heard about/absorbed through osmosis – with Steve Rogers and Tony Stark being uppermost on the reading pile,” said Landy in a statement.

“Little did I know that this was actually a prolonged bout of diligent and thorough research for which I should be roundly admired – nay lauded,” continued Landy. “The opportunity to write these characters is as daunting as it is thrilling, but with Ángel Unzueta on art duties, I’m reassured that it’ll at least LOOK gorgeous.”

Unzueta also praised Landy’s storytelling abilities in his own statement:

“He gives the script a great cinematographic sense in every panel and the choreography pushes me to be clear, detailed, and dynamic at the same time,” noted Unzueta. “There are a lot of things to say about the relationship of these two Marvel heroes and Derek shows in this miniseries his deep understanding of their dynamic and services it into a great and relevant story: An instant classic!”

Captain America/Iron Man #1 hits comic shops on November 24. You can check out Alex Ross’ cover for the first issue below.
