Neal Adams’ Batman vs. Ra’s al Ghul Miniseries Is Coming This Summer

DC’s Year of the Villain event is poised to give several of the publisher’s most iconic big bads their moment to shine. Batman in particular will have his hands full dealing with one of his deadliest enemies. DC has just announced Batman vs. Ra’s al Ghul, a six-issue miniseries that will arrive in August. DC has enlisted Neal Adams, the co-creator of Ra’s al Ghul, to write and illustrate the story.

Batman vs. Ra’s al Ghul begins with Gotham City facing a threat from a mysterious group of terrorists. While the Dark Knight attempts to get to the bottom of the invasion, Deadman does some digging of his own. And it isn’t long before Deadman learns that an inhuman monster is the terrorists’ ringleader.

Naturally, Ra’s al Ghul inserts himself into the situation. However, it’s in a way that most readers would never expect. Ra’s offers his own private security force to assist GCPC in their efforts to combat the terrorists. Of course, his true motive is to bring about Gotham’s destruction, and Batman might be powerless to stop him this time.

To sweeten the deal, DC will simultaneously reprint Ra’s al Ghul’s first appearance in the “Daughter of the Demon” storyline in Batman #232. That issue will hit store shelves under the title Batman #232 Facsimile Edition on the same day as the first issue of Adams’ new miniseries.

Batman vs. Ra’s al Ghul #1 hits on August 21. You can check out Adams’ cover for the issue, as well as the reprinted cover of Batman #232, below. Will you be adding this new series to your pull list? Let us know in the comment section!
