According to recent reports from Deadline, Brand New Day has breached the threshold of $700 million at the domestic box office this Wednesday. Now, this stat alone looks pretty impressive. But there’s more.
The latest iteration of the Spider-Man movie has achieved the record in just 13 days. This makes Brand New Day the fastest movie to topple the $700 million mark. Director Destin Daniel Cretton’s superhero epic broke the record previously co-held by Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, both of which took 16 days to reach the $700 million domestic mark.
Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens held the mark for years
Both the movies held the number one spot for years. Star Wars: The Force Awakens held the record for 11 years following its December 2015 premiere, eventually concluding its theatrical run with $936.6 million domestically and $1.119 billion internationally.
Avengers: Endgame held the crown for seven years following its April 2019 release, going on to earn $858.3 million domestically and $2.717 billion worldwide as the second highest-grossing film of all time.
Coming back to Brand New Day, the movie has grossed $704.5 million in North America. As far as the international collection is concerned, Brand New Day has already made $1.108 billion. This number is once again a record. The film has officially surpassed Spider-Man: No Way Home, which collected $1.106 billion to become Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing international release of all time.
