James Gunn has sparked new Brainiac theories with a Superman: Man of Tomorrow photo. The upcoming superhero movie will continue the story from last year, featuring David Corenswet in the titular role of Clark Kent/Superman.
To celebrate his 60th birthday, director James Gunn posted a set photo from Superman: Man of Tomorrow on Instagram. It’s a wide-angle photo featuring all the crew members working on the awaited DCU movie.
While the photo initially looks normal, it contains an interesting detail that has fans buzzing on social media about Brainiac. The supervillain will make his live-action debut in Man of Tomorrow. However, Gunn’s photo seems to have revealed the character’s first look already.

Some fans came up with a theory that James Gunn may have purposely photoshopped the picture to hide someone’s face.
In the comments, one user, @yelnik, wrote, “There’s a conveniently placed photoshop on a conveniently darkly dressed man” before another fan, @Nicolas, replied to them saying, “braniacccccc”
Another fan wondered if that’s “a mystery character” with a green face emoji to indicate the Brainiac actor’s presence in the group photo. Interestingly, the speculation becomes more believable upon zooming into the photo.
It’s clear that one member’s face, standing next to Nicholas Hoult, has been photoshopped with a random picture. This person is also seen wearing a green outfit, making fans assume it could be the actor playing Brainiac.
However, it’s too early to draw any conclusions unless Gunn shares an update or clarification about the mysterious person in the set photo.
Man of Tomorrow will see Superman and Lex Luthor, played by Hoult, coming together despite their conflicts to face Brainiac. The ensemble cast will also include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Milly Alcock as Supergirl, among others.
