In Spider-Man: No Way Home, the main trio of heroes was Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly also have a main trio, but it won’t feature the heroes fans may be thinking it would.
The first trailer for Brand New Day was released on March 18, where it quickly racked up millions of views as fans watched (and rewatched) to look for clues and Easter eggs about the fourth Spider-Man movie’s story. Since Sony and Marvel are known to erase major spoilers from their trailers, fans began suspecting that one shot from the Brand New Day trailer was missing a few key characters, something scooper MAJESTIC_ucm has now confirmed.
Who are the hidden MCU characters in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer?
According to MAJESTIC_ucm on X, the main trio of heroes in Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher.
It’s unclear if the photoshopped image accompanying the X post, which adds Daredevil and Punisher to the Spider-Man vs. the Hand mid-air fight, is the scooper’s way of telling fans that both heroes will be present in the fight, or if it was merely done to signify the movie’s core trio. MAJESTIC_ucm stated in a separate post on X that he expected Daredevil to be present for the Hand fight, which makes sense given their history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Daredevil’s inclusion may surprise fans, since Cox is not officially confirmed to appear in Brand New Day yet. So far, the only returning MCU heroes confirmed are Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
“Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced,” reads the synopsis for Brand New Day.
Destin Daniel Cretton directed Spider-Man: Brand New Day from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The superhero sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
