X-Men ‘97 Season 2 Could Outdo Gambit With ‘A Lot’ of Deaths

In the build-up to the premiere of X-Men ’97 Season 2, voice actor Ross Marquand has revealed that the second season of the critically acclaimed Marvel series will include a number of significant deaths. In a recent discussion, Marquand shared some insights into the much-awaited follow-up season of X-Men ’97, teasing the deaths of multiple characters.

X-Men ’97 Season 2 to feature a lot of deaths

While speaking to Collider‘s Maggie Lovitt at FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention, Marquand disclosed that the upcoming second season of X-Men ’97 will have a significantly darker tone than its predecessor.

Talking about the more mature tone of the new season, Marquand noted that he was “amazed Disney greenlit it because it’s so dark. It’s very, very dark. A lot of people die, and so many people don’t talk about it. Just being honest.”

Marquand’s comments suggest that the events of X-Men ’97 Season 2 will easily overshadow Gambit’s death in Season 1. Notably, the card-wielding mutant lost his life in Episode 5 while trying to save Rogue from a nuclear explosion.

In the interview, the 44-year-old actor also shed light on the character he’ll be lending his voice to in the second season. “I play Apocalypse next season too, so there’s a lot of scenes for myself as Apocalypse. I’m dressed in rags, which is kind of weird, but yeah,” Marquand noted.

In addition to Marquand, X-Men ’97 Season 2 will also feature Holly Chou and Ray Chase, who are joining the cast as Jubilee and Cyclops, respectively. Meanwhile, Lenore Zann, George Buza, and Cal Dodd are reprising their roles from the first season and will once again voice Rogue, Beast, and Wolverine.

While Season 2 is currently on track to premiere on Disney+ sometime next year, the exact release date of the second season is currently unknown.
