Universal Pictures has hired Red helmer Robert Schwentke to direct the supernatural action film R.I.P.D. (short for "Rest In Peace Department"), based on Peter Lenkov's Dark Horse comic about a police department of the dead.
Ryan Reynolds signed last spring to star in the film, centered on two officers -- one recently dead and one who's been dead for hundreds of years.
Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi are writing the screenplay.
Mike Richardson, founder and President of Dark Horse, and Lawrence Gordon will produce for Dark Horse Entertainment. Neal Moritz is producing through his Original Film.

Now RIPD?
and its rumored that he is the FLASH too or is in talks for it?
that's just way too much....he's hogging all the superhero hype (no pun intended) and comics might as well change their stories to make all superhero alter egos Ryan Reynolds....who is the man behind spider-mans mask? Ryan Reynolds....who is the FBI agent turned vigilante known as the Punisher?...RYAN Reynolds...Batmans alter-ego is a playboy billionaire by the name of Ryan Reynolds....Dr. Ryan Reynolds turns into a behemoth known as the hulk...Professor Ryan Reynolds started a school for gifted youngsters and is the leader of the R-Men.....i can go on forever....get my drift?
...if heath ledger were alive, we'd continue to praise him for his unforgettable turn as the joker, but then we'd get annoyed when they cast him as braniac in superman and then carnage in spider-man and then diamondback in luke cage...just to name a few...because yes, he is a great actor, but when different characters are played by the same guy, they lose their individuality because we begin to just see the same face under different masks.
