Extra Injured on Transformers 3 Set

September 02, 2010

Broken cable entered car and hit her head

Chicago's ABC 7 News reports that an extra on the set of Transformers 3 suffered a head injury on the last night of shooting in the city:

A 24-year-old woman participating in a car stunt suffered a serious head injury during a 'Transformers 3' shoot in northwest Indiana one day before filming was supposed to conclude in the Chicago area.

Extra Gabriela Cedillo was injured on the set Wednesday night along a stretch of Cline Avenue, which was closed to traffic for filming, in East Chicago.

A stunt was apparently being performed during filming when Cedillo, who is not a stuntman, was hurt.

The vehicle was being towed by another vehicle," said fellow extra Blaine Baker. "The cable between the two vehicles broke. It whipped around and sliced through the woman's car and sliced through her skull, apparently."

Reports say that today's shooting in Chicago has been cancelled. You can watch ABC 7's report on the matter using the player below:

ouch!
You hate to hear things like this. A wire snapped. Who's fault is that? Well I bet the producing company is going to lose millions because of this. But most importantley, hopefully the woman survives. Thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family. Traggic!

You people SUCK!!
Seriously, people... a person was seriously hurt while filming a movie. Just because you don't like Michael Bay or think he's destroyed a franchise doesn't mean we shouldn't care when a person is seriously injured on one of his sets.

This makes me think of the situation with the Twilight Zone movie back in the early 80s which resulted in the loss of Vic Morrow's life as well as some of the children in the scene. Steven Spielberg was also the executive producer of that movie.

That's scary. Kind of a graphic account, too. I had forgotten they were even in the process of filming this.

All I can say get well soon hopefully she will recover, the studio will have pay for medical. They should offer her a generous pay-packet, a head injury is life threatening.
