Idris Elba on Starring in Thor

And how many Marvel movies is he committed to?

Idris Elba, who can be seen in Takers this weekend, talked to USA Weekend about playing Heimdall in Thor and mentioned how many Marvel Studios movies he's committed to appearing in:

You just finished your stint filming Thor as the Asgardian warrior Heimdall. How was that?
It was dope. It was an interesting genre of film to make. I had never done comic book stuff, so that was really great.

What was the coolest part?
Just the bigness of the show. It’s so epic, these huge sets were just amazing to look at. And they really pay attention to detail. When you read the comics, you see all the drawings, and to actually see them in real life, it’s like, “Whoa!”

Do you see yourself doing another superhero character or are you good with the crime dramas?
I have a deal with the Marvel Studios team, a four-picture commitment. I’m sure I’ll be back in something cool.

Thor is coming to 3D and 2D theaters on May 6, 2011.

A four picture deal..... i know they like to lock actors down for potential franchises, but what are they gonna do with Heimdall in 3 other films?

My guess is they locked him down for a Thor Trilogy and a plus one. The plus one could be in an Avengers movie or just anything. Just because they signed him to a four picture deal doesn't mean they HAVE to use him in all four. Then there's is always the chance they fall in love with him and try to put him a Black Panther, Luke Cage movie or maybe even a Blade reboot.

I didn't realize this is who will be playing heimdall. This guys a great actor brings alot of heart and passion to what ever role he's playing. Really glad he's attached to 4 movies

Thor will will be one of the biggest if not THE biggest movie of 2011. I'm so stoked!!
