Spider-Man and Men in Black III Start Dates

July 31, 2010

Both getting underway before the end of the year

ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype has learned that the Marc Webb-directed Untitled Spider-Man Project will start shooting in December in Los Angeles. We've received no word yet whether Sony's Columbia Pictures will also film in New York. Andrew Garfield stars in the July 3, 2012 release, produced by Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad.

The studio's Men in Black III, however, is scheduled for filming in New York starting in September. Barry Sonnenfeld is directing the May 25, 2012 release, starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Jemaine Clement.

They're already screwing Spidey up by casting MJ. She's going to be the main squeeze instead of Gwen and we are going to get robbed of a true Spidey adaptation again. Sony is terrified to do anything differently than they did before so they are going to dip out of the FOX well and film whatever boring, cookie-cutter films they think will please the idiot teens.

The really sad part is Marvel could bring Spidey into the Marvel Movieverse, and DO IT RIGHT. But Sony is chasing after the $$$ and Spidey is going to get cheated out of his proper story AND his rightful place in Marvels Cinematic Uni.

It's depressing.

@ned leeds : Oh come on Spiderman 2 was such a great movie.

The story plot is secondary. We all know that they will screw up the story (and maybe the cast) until the rights arent back to marvel.

But for all that I am looking forward to see new web swinging scenes WITHOUT Tobey.

I Agree Ned. It is a short sighted vision by Sony. From s strategic point of view they will be missing out on huge storyline potential. This crossover factor was a hallmark of the Marvel Universe and this set it apart from DC in the Silver Age. The movie industry is too full of ego and short sighted businessmen and women who only see short term goals. The fans excitement at the sight of the Avengers Assembled at Comicon should have rung loudly in their ears.

Marvel's Characters are far more effect with crossover factor than without. Fox paid this price with AvP dragging it's heels and they OWNED both franchises.

This is the correct way to reinvigorate all the Marvel Franchises as by comparison they will achieve greater context and in this process naturally 'reboot'

can i borrow this?
Funny how the Most believe Marvel could put on a better Spiderman movie than sony. But to do so, Marvel would have to convince Sony to let them take control while sony produces. Kinda like loaning your car out but having to ask permission to drive it.

@ Uncle Ben's Ric, ManOfMagics

I guess the younger casting that's supposed to be the reason for this reboot has been thrown out of the window.
