The PlayStation Network has cancelled the Power series after two seasons

PlayStation has announced today that the Powers series has been cancelled. The live-action adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s acclaimed comic book series ran for two seasons on the PlayStation Network. The Powers series followed the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, the Powers series asked the questions, “What if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?”

Powers season two delved into the storyline made famous by the first comic book arc, “Who Killed Retro Girl?”, following the Powers Division as they investigated the shocking murder of the world famous superhero Retro Girl (Michelle Forbes) and the mysteries that her death uncovers.

The Powers series cast also includes Max Fowler, Adam Godley, Noah Taylor, Olesya Rulin and Eddie Izzard.

The Powers series is produced by Jinxworld and Circle of Confusion in association with Sony Pictures Television. Brian Michael Bendis, Remi Aubuchon, Michael Oeming, and David Engel serve as executive producers.

Powers meanwhile continues in comic book form, published by Marvel Comics under their Icon imprint.
