Green Lantern Gets the Official Green Light

Visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas (The Day After Tomorrow, Spider-Man) has announced on her Blog that Green Lantern got the official green light yesterday (Wednesday) and that filming will start in 10 weeks (sometime in March):

Wow! Been a long time since I posted! But today is a day worth posting about!

Green Lantern got the official green light today! And not a second too soon - only 10 weeks out from shooting!

While it's great news we are a go - now we have to actually get our prep done in 10 weeks!
DOH!

But we have an amazing crew - so we will make it happen!

In previous Blog posts, she has mentioned that the film will include over 1300 effects shots. To be directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, GoldenEye), Green Lantern will star Ryan Reynolds and is scheduled for a June 17, 2011 release.

Hopefully this gets done right and we can look forward to a bunch of DC movies that will be worthy franchises. Doesn't have to be Dark Knight good, but please entertain us and have a decent plot. Assuming sfx will be cool.

Great! maybe now we can get some cast finalization besides for ryan reynolds and some concept art, including how the suit will look. I promise i'll be turned off from this movie if the uniform deviates too far from the source material!

I don't know for some reason I think this movie is going to suck. He's just going to turn this into a action/comedy with his dry humor. It's me but I don't think it's going to work.

I have faith in this movie. Ryan Reynolds isn't my first choice but they could have done a lot (and I mean a LOT) worse than him. This film could be epic. Like Star Wars original trilogy epic.
