Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to Feature Joker in DLC

It had been previously announced that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League would feature more playable characters beyond the initial release. Now, Rocksteady Studios has confirmed that Joker will be the first DLC character. However, the game will present a new version of the Joker different from what most audiences might expect.

The reveal came in a Suicide Squad Insider video posted to the game’s official YouTube channel. The game detailed some of the post-launch content for Kill the Justice League’s first season, which is based around DC’s Elseworlds. The biggest news, however, was that a variant Joker would be the game’s first new playable character.

DC’s Elseworlds and the new Joker, explained

Elseworlds is a comics line devoted to stories set outside the main DC Universe canon. All of DC‘s video game and television adaptations are considered Elseworlds. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League builds on that base concept, with its version of Brainiac creating multiple alternate Earths as part of a model of the multiverse. These worlds and their inhabitants, like the variant Joker, will lie at the heart of the upcoming season DLC sets.

Joker will be introduced into first Season 1 update, which is scheduled for release in March 2024. This variant Joker is younger than his Arkhamverse counterpart, who has been dead for five years at the time of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Beyond being less experienced, he was also part of the Suicide Squad in his world. As such, he’s more of a team player than the classic Clown Prince of Crime. However, he is still as unhinged as the original Joker, with a chaotic, fast-paced combat style based around constant movement.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches on February 2, 2024 for PCPlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
