Thanos Returns To Fortnite in Avengers: Endgame Event

One of the most popular video games out there has assembled with the Avengers, just in time for Endgame. After a week filled with teases, Epic Games finally confirmed a new Marvel-themed event for its Battle Royale-themed game, Fortnite. Titled Fortnite: Endgame, it debuts a limited-time mode where fans can take on Thanos using special Avengers weapons.

The mode went live earlier today, and you can get a glimpse of what it’s about in the trailer below. Thanos once again invades the world of Fortnite, with the Chitauri by his side. It’s up to the team of Heroes to stop him from claiming all six Infinity Stones within the world. The teams are split into two sides. One consists of the Heroes, which can track down special abilities from select Avengers characters. The other team has Thanos, out to claim the Infinity Stones with the help of the Chitauri. The first team to complete their objective – either saving the Stones or losing them – wins.

Heroes don’t automatically start with these Mythic Avengers abilities. They have to track them down with a treasure map, which they get at the beginning of the game. Players can also find some of these items within Chests, scattered throughout the map. These will help players defeat members of the Chitauri army, who come packing with laser rifles and grenades. If a Chitauri soldier manages to find an Infinity Stone, they’ll transform with Thanos, who is the most powerful character out there, obviously.

With each stone the Chitauri team picks up, they gain a health boost while giving Thanos additional strength. Here’s the effect each Stone gives the squad:

  • Reality Stone (Red) = Heath & Shields doubled (1000->2000)
  • Soul Stone (Orange) = Siphon activated (grants Thanos shields only)
  • Mind Stone (Yellow) = Jump height doubled
  • Space Stone (Blue) = Ground Pound AOE size tripled, damage x6
  • Time Stone (Green) = Big knockback added to each hit, damage x3
  • Power Stone (Purple) = Laser damage x6

This should no doubt bring in a huge audience for Fortnite, just as it did last summer. During that time, Thanos debuted in the game just in time for Infinity War’s release. Endgame is a much bigger event, since it throws other Avengers into the fray. We’re not sure when the mode will come to a close. So jump in and go after those Stones – or Cap’s shield – when you can!

Fortnite is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. As for Avengers: Endgame, it opens tonight in theaters.
