Star Trek’s Wildest Episode in Years Could Get Surprising Spin-off Project on One Condition

Star Trek just delivered its most surprising episode in years. There’s now a real chance of a spin-off, but only under one condition. The latest Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 episode saw what franchise fans may have craved for in the last six decades.

The muppets are back in the series, and they were in full swing in the new episode. Following their wild comeback, director Jordan Canning explained in detail what this means for the future of puppets in the Star Trek universe.

Speaking to The Guardian, Canning mentioned that there are chances of spin-off projects featuring muppets. “They’re in storage,” she revealed. “Those puppets will always exist. I would love to get them out again and make some short films or a web series or something.”

However, there’s only one condition that could make it happen. “If the fans like it, let’s get them out again. Let the puppets play!”

What happens in Level-Five Transporter Accident episode?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Level-Five Transporter Accident episode features a longstanding tradition of characters going through unexpected transformations. The entire Enterprise Team gets turned into a bunch of muppets while beaming up to the ship.

Fortunately, Spock isn’t affected by this bizarre phenomenon. The episode also features an unexpected invasion of Orion pirates. In the end, however, it’s revealed that the entire episode was just a dream, sparing the story from any major consequences.

Strange New Worlds Season 4 features an ensemble cast, including  Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, and Martin Quinn. Carol Kane, Paul Wesley, Celia Rose Gooding, Anson Mount, and Rebecca Romijn also play crucial roles.

The fourth season is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as the co-showrunners.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 is now streaming on Paramount+. New episodes arrive weekly, and the finale will premiere on September 24, 2026.
