Luke Cage MCU Return Rumor Gives Update on Defenders Member

Fans believed that Mike Colter would be returning to the MCU as Luke Cage, and according to two insiders, those rumors just got even stronger.

What do we know about Luke Cage’s MCU return?

In two recent posts on social media, insiders Daniel Richtman and My Time to Shine both seemed to hint that Colter was all but confirmed to be returning to the MCU as Cage. Both insiders shared a post celebrating Colter’s 49th birthday, with Richtman referring to him as “the MCU’s Luke Cage,” while My Time to Shine hinted that no recasting for the character had been done.

It’s unclear exactly what Colter will be doing in the MCU, but all signs point to a Defenders reunion in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. Previous reports suggest that both Cage and Danny Rand (played by Finn Jones in the Netflix series) would be involved in the show, alongside the previously confirmed Krysten Ritter, who returns as Jessica Jones.

Past rumors suggested that Jones would be helping Matt Murdock with his army. When it comes to the Iron Fist mantle, reports suggested that Marvel could be essentially preparing for a new version of the character.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is expected to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026.
