Ironheart: New MCU Rumor Gives Alden Ehrenreich a Captain America Connection

A new MCU rumor suggests that Alden Ehrenreich’s Ironheart character was originally supposed to debut in Captain America 4.

All six episodes of Ironheart are now available to stream on Disney+. The Marvel Studios show is created by Chinaka Hodge and sees Dominique Thorne reprise her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever role as Riri Williams, while Anthony Ramos stars as Parker Robbins/The Hood.

Ehrenreich, meanwhile, plays a character named Zeke, who is eventually revealed to be the son of Obadiah Stane. Obadiah was the villain played by Jeff Bridges in the very first MCU movie, 2008’s Iron Man.

How would Ironheart’s Alden Ehrenreich have been connected to Captain America?

According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Marvel originally intended to give Ehrenreich a role in Captain America 4.

“Now that Ironheart is over, it’s time to reveal that originally, Zeke Stane was supposed to be the one who created the Serpent Society in Captain America: Brave New World, back when the show was meant to come out before the movie, and the group was a team of cyborgs,” the explanation reads.

Giancarlo Esposito plays Sidewinder, who is the leader of the Serpent Society, in the latest Captain America movie; however, the project had a troubled production, and, according to reports, there were originally plans to introduce more members of the villainous team into the film at one point in time.

Ironheart, meanwhile, was originally going to be released before Captain America 4. That changed when Marvel switched their approach to how they would handle television shows, while the 2023 Hollywood strikes also factored into things.

The synopsis for Ironheart reads, “Set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel Television’s Ironheart pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (Ramos).”
