Vision MCU Series Sets Disney+ Release Date Window, Showrunner

Marvel has officially set the release date for a planned upcoming series based on Paul Bettany’s character Vision, according to Variety.

The series, which is currently unnamed, will premiere sometime in 2026 on Disney+. Marvel has also tapped Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas to act as showrunner for the series. Bettany is expected to return to the series in the role of Vision, a character he’s portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for nearly 10 years.

A Vision series has been in various stages of development for some time at Marvel. However, it was previously being worked on by WandaVision creator Jac Schaefer. Schaefer is now working on the upcoming WandaVision spin-off Agatha All Along, which will premiere this September.

Vision last appeared in the Disney+ series WandaVision

Bettany first voiced J.A.R.V.I.S. in a number of MCU projects, including 2008’s Iron Man, 2010’s Iron Man 2, 2012’s The Avengers, 2013’s Iron Man 3, and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Since 2015, he’s portrayed the character Vision, who has been instrumental in various MCU storylines over the years. In 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, Vision was killed by Thanos after the Mind Stone embedded in his forehead was taken out. In 2021’s WandaVision, Vision was brought back as a sort of spectral entity by Wanda Maximoff, before being rebuilt in a white android body, with no memory of who he was.

It’s unknown exactly what the new Vision series will be about, but it’s presumed to follow this version of Vision as he tries to uncover more about his past life.
